Confirmation, often referred to as a mutualist, is available to an LCSW applicant who was licensed in a jurisdiction other than the clinical social worker and who had a practice of at least 10 years in the 15 years prior to the application. The initial license must have been issued based on requirements similar to those of New York State, including: the applicant for admission as a licensed clinical social worker may submit to the State Board for Social Work a supervised experience plan for verification and approval. The plan must be documented on Form 6, which is submitted with the US$10 fee, and includes that a person who does not meet the confirmation requirements of a social clinical work license must apply for LCSW with standard methods and meet all first appointment requirements in New York State. Generalist practice is based on free arts and the person-in-environment framework. To promote human and social well-being, general practitioners use a number of prevention and intervention methods in their practice, with different individuals, families, groups, organisations and communities, based on scientific studies and best practices. The GENERAList identifies with the social work profession and applies ethical principles and critical thinking at the micro, mezzo and macro levels in practice. GPs are committed to diversity in their practice and are committed to human rights and social and economic justice. They recognize, support and build on the strengths and resilience of all human beings. You engage in research-oriented practice and respond proactively to the impact of context on professional practice (EPAS 2015, p. 11).
Generalist practice encompasses all the skills of social work. The Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the CSUSM has been designed to develop culturally informed, ethical and effective professionals for the direct practice of social work with different population groups. The MSW program prepares students for direct practice in a wide range of environments, including public, private, and non-profit agencies and organizations, in social services, child welfare services, human services, health care, and mental/behavioral health. The supervisor is legally and professionally responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of each client and must have access to all relevant information. It is the employer`s responsibility to ensure appropriate supervision, as an LMSW can only perform clinical social work under supervision. All third-party monitoring agreements must contain a written agreement between the employer, the external supervisor and the LMSW to determine supervisor`s access to customers and customer records, in order to ensure adequate monitoring of LMSW. The supervisor must be employed by the employer, not by LMSW. The customer must be informed of how confidential information is handled in the case of third-party monitoring and how questions may be asked of the employer and/or external superior. An LMSW or other qualified person who wishes to meet the experience requirements for admission as a licensed clinical social worker must be placed under the supervision of a qualified supervisor, as defined in the Education and Regulatory Act.
